She graduated from the University of Toronto with a Masters in Physiotherapy, and was awarded the Goldie Lewis Award upon graduation for the demonstration of strong personal attributes. She then went onto receive her PhD from the University of Toronto, and completed her Post Doctoral Fellowship at McMaster University. Charlotte’s area of interest and focus subsequent to graduation has been in muscular-skeletal practice. She has undertaken ongoing professional development certifications in the areas of: nervous system mobilization, joint mobilization, manual therapy, taping and bracing, vestibular rehabilitation and dry needling.

Charlotte has experience working in a number of different health care settings, but primarily in outpatient orthopedics, treating a wide range of conditions related to sport, work and the rigors of daily life. Charlotte owns and operates several clinics in Toronto and Muskoka, and provides physiotherapy locum services throughout the year in Whitehorse, Yukon.

Her practice at ALPHA Health Services focuses on all aspects of muscular-skeletal health, including but not limited to injury rehabilitation, chronic pain management, healthy aging, exercise prescription and regaining function and mobility. Charlotte has a particular interest in preventative and maintenance based physiotherapy and works hard with her patients to prevent secondary injuries from occurring. She is a strong believer in preventative actions to avoid injury or disease and works hard with patients to live a healthy, active life that prevents the need for rehabilitation.

Her research has been published in several peer reviewed journals and presented at conferences internationally. She has received several acknowledgments for her physiotherapy skills, teaching/research, and mentorship, including a Recognition Award from the Department of Physical Therapy which acknowledges those individuals who have provided great learning environments, guidance, supervision, or have been inspirational to students. She is appointed to the Executive of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (private practice division) as the Education Lead. These background skill sets complement and support Charlotte’s professional practice particularly in the area of individual-specific rehabilitation and preventative physiotherapy. She is an adjunct lecturer in the Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences at U of T, with a focus on concussion management and rehabilitation. Additionally, she develops and delivers business curriculum and orthopaedic curriculum at U of T in the Faculty of Physiotherapy, and the Faculty of Medicine. She is also a lecturer and develops concussion curriculum for the Physiotherapy Faculty at McMaster University.

Charlotte was the recipient of the 2018 Physical Therapy Practitioner Exceptional Achievement Award, from the University of Toronto. This award acknowledges a Physical Therapist who demonstrates expertise in a clinical content area, a best practice approach to delivering patient centred care, and participates in the development of their practice and the development of others in their clinical area. Charlotte has received several awards and funding for her research. Additionally, she was named the 2021 award recipient of the Young Alumna Award, from Havergal College. This award is presented to a woman under 40 years of age, who has made a difference for good in the world.

Charlotte is a leader in concussion clinical research. She treats acute and chronic patients post concussion, and has developed several courses to teach rehabilitation professionals evidence based methods and treatment techniques for patients with concussion, or post concussion symptoms.  To learn more about the ALPHA concussion program, click here.
